I took apart my Umnumzaan and thought I would post the results. I managed to mangle the pocket clip screw. For some reason when I unscrewed it the threads rubbed up against the clip and destroyed the threads on the screw. I got a new screw and opened up the hole on the clip and everything was fine again.

As far as the rest of the knife dont worry about being able to get it back together if you have one. There are very few parts. The pivot is two pieces, a male and female part, just like a nut and a bolt and then there is a thin washer that goes on each side of the blade. That is all there is. The spacer in the back is three pieces, the actual spacer, the screw, and the female part.

It was a little tricky getting the pivot to unscrew because it came with lock tite on it. I had the tool for one side and was able to put enough pressure on the other side with my thumb to keep it from spinning. When I put it back together I noticed you do have to get the correct tension on the pivot or it makes the blade difficult to open. The amount of tension required is very little. It is small enough that the pivot would spin and I was afraid the pivot would start to unscrew itself so I put a little loctite on it to hold it in place. I am a little disappointed that I had to play with the pivot, I thought I would just be able to tighten it down and the knife would be smooth.

All that and you didn’t take pictures?!!
Oh well, thanks for the info anyway.

I’ve thought about breaking mine down just to see the construction.
It sounds pretty straightforward. I was hoping it was possible to hold one pivot side with just finger pressure. Now I know, thanks.

Adjusting a pivot bolt on any knife isn’t that hard, some people make it sound like it’s rocket science, or a big hassle or something. There is a sweet spot, you just have to find it. It takes just a couple of tries, on most knives, to get the action you want.

It wasnt hard to adjust the pivot, I just thought on such an expensive knife I wouldnt have to.

Is there a fine line between the "sweet" spot, too much tension on the blade and blade play? Where is the point of too loose and blade play.

I haven't ordered mine because I'm just not sold on the design. It sounds like every other bushing-less folder.

This is a CRK for crying out loud!
The pivot works great.
The lockbar ball detent is absolutely an improvement over any other past design, CRK or not. Get one for that reason alone.
You'll love it.
