I have no doubt in my mind that someone here happens to own all generations/variations of the Umnumzaan model. Would you be kind enough to post a comparison picture for us all of them? I'd like to see the subtle and some not-so-subtle difference between them.

Thank you!

While I do have a few Umnumzaans they are all 09 vintage knives so are early pre any change models. It wouldn't hurt to have nice visual representation of the evolution though.

I'd like to see that aswell. Someones bound to post them once the sun comes up and the coffee has kicked in:thumbup:

I saw a picture on one of the websites selling it where it says UMNUMZAAN on the front scale.

i posted about this in another thread, but no one chimed in.

proto
umnum small lock
umnum large lock
plain disc
decorated disc
jimping change
pivot change

missing any?

I've got a startac Umnumzaan coming with a blank stop disc and S30V steel, if it's sporting that, will it be sporting the old jimping aswell?

Man you're not lying, I've got an OG Umnum, which I love, but I almost feel like I need a new one because it's pretty much an entirely new knife!

Here's the ones I can think of:

1) Steel upgrade to S35vn
2) easier access to lockbar
3) easier access to offside thumb stud
4) lock bar stabilizer
5) different jimping
6) Idaho stamp (not really an improvement, but anyway)
7) new pivot

I'd like to get all of that in a Wilson Starbust frame.

Damn, so many knives... so many knives, and so little time.

Here's a list I posted a while ago aswell. You can now add the new pivot of course.

We can't forget about the two unique Umnumzaans that are decorated. They look absolutely stunning and are currently tucked away in places unknown.

Here's a picture I found over at Plaza Cutlery (image credit to Dan at Plaza):

I have 5 different umnumzaans, and the 2009's are by far the smoothest. Not sure why. They are more difficult to flick open though. This is not much, but the lanyard pin is different and they have the older set of screws/female like the regular sebenzas

Why CRK doesn't do these on the regular, I'll never know. But thank god, because I need to eat.

Any chance for a pic? Yours might be as close as we'd likely to get to a compilation picture.

Im dying to get up a pic(s) im in the process of moving anf have no internet at the moment..did I mention cell phones suck for viewing the web?

I personally think the last umnums with the s35/no lock stop, "old jimpimg and pivot" were the ideal ones(to me at least) I like the sheen of the s35.

The Umnumzaan started off with two piece thumb studs and soon went to a single press fitted piece after a few came apart from extreme conditions.

Don't forget the TNK Tanto variations.

1. Limited 10 year anniversary- first 10 numbered and engraved with logo.
2. Standard American Tanto
3. Dynamic Tip American Tanto

I completely forgot about those variants. Wow, the Umnumzaan has been a variable and ever changing platform since it's inception.

The only ones like this that I'm aware of were the 20 Prototypes that CR took to Blade in 2008 (where it received Knife of the Year accolades). I'm more of Sebenza guy, but I was fortunate enough to snag one for my collection.

Does anyone know when they utilized the extended lock bar "press" for easier opening?
