So I haven't really seen a definitive video on the Umnumzaan breaking tempered glass. I've seen plate glass, and laminated, but not tempered. So I shot a video, let me know what you think.

*Note: its my first time shooting a review on tape of any kind. I was pretty nervous, but feel free to comment!

Interesting. What was the glass lying on? I'm wondering if it would have shattered on the first blow if it weren't supported from behind?

Auto glass on the front windshield is Laminated. Two pieces of glass with a piece of plastic in between. This creates a high strength resistance, in order to keep occupants not wearing their seatbelts from flying out the window (and to prevent occupants from getting hit from things oncoming).

Tempered glass is used on the side doors and rear window, in order to create small, less lethal pieces of glass from flying around due to an accident.

That's a cool vid, thanks for taking the time to do it. :)

I have tested glass breakers to a fairly large extent on car windows. A laminate glass wind shield is not going to be taking much jip from an Umnumzaan or any glass breaker for that metter, I use my RMJ Tomahawk to get those out. There are a number of ways to break a window, but I find the safest and most successfull way is to use a back swing hitting the target behind you using the frame of the window as a brace to stop ones hand or arm traveling through the broken window. This also keeps your face away from any bits flying out when you smash the window as you are well out the way. I have seen people stand straight on and bash away at a window only to put there arm through the window up to the elbow when it finaly goes, that can give you some nasty wee cuts or even nast big cuts if you're unlucky.

It might be time to get back down to the scrapies and smash some stuff up, now I think about it. :p

Huh, so if you pound a hard object into a pane of glass lying on concrete, the glass breaks? Who'd have thunk it.

Really nice video! I look forward to receiving mine sometime in the future. It is the only knife I have left on my list to get excluding the Green Para2 Sprint.

Strange hearing yourself on video David_Parker03?

I sound weird to myself, thats why I barely speak on mine.

Nice videos. I actually used my Umnumzaan back in 2010(maybe 2009?) to take out the driver's side windows after being the second passerby to offer assistance at a wreck. It worked well enough, but not as well as a spring assisted punch. They might not be the best punch, but can do the job, especially factoring in not having to carry an additional tool.

other than the vandalism, this is kinda interesting. Looks like a subway door window.

Why do you assume that it is vandalism?

Could just be an old junk car.
Not sure why that would say "Cartier" though...

That vid was posted here a while back, I think most people thought it was a car parked in a car park at a mall or somewhere similar.

Both those where cool David Parker....Umnumzaan come thru...love i've had it for 2 years and it's nice to know i'll be able to smash my window if need be...lol thanks again for the vid.
