Umnumzaan grind

So I was inspecting my new umnum and noticed that the grinds of the top swedges aren't symmetrical. The left swedge nearest to the tang actually goes higher up the blade spine than the one on the right. It's a minor detail, but it's bugging the crap out of me since these knives aren't cheap and I'm expecting perfect grinds for the price. Is this normal? or should I just send it back to crk?

I'd recommend that you upload a picture of it, makes it easier to judge.

IMHO...If it's not seriously noticeable, i wouldn't worry about it. On 99% of my knives (custom and production) i can find uneven something. YMMV.

I just had a look at the swedge on my 3 Umnumzaans and the grinds are also a wee bit uneven at the hump. I also hadn't noticed it or even looked for it untill now either. IMO it's just silly to send a knife back because of that. You could sharpen the swedge to get it even quite easily any way. On my knives it's less than 1mm and just not worth bothering about, you can't even see it unless you're looking for it.

This is quite right, I have knives that are more than a CRK with something uneven about them like part of the edge or file work, guard shape etc. You could go crazy if you start picking those tiny little bits out.

In a thread awhile back where people compared their Insingo swedges, an employee mentioned they're put on by hand. I imagine the same is true with the Umnumzaan. In that case they won't be perfect every time.

I wouldn't think they'd replace the blade for that, but it can't hurt to email them and find out.

mine has the flats that are 2mm uneven one from the other one, not perfetct OK but the rest is flawless and it does not influence the knife actually
my other 3 folders have perfect grinds, symmetrical and centered

Mine is also slightly uneven. But does that ruin its fit and finish? Not in my opinion. I doubt sending it in would yield anything, because you're asking for something extreme. But you never know.

I'll get pictures up in the afternoon, like most of you have said, it's nothing terribly noticeable.
