i have a new Umnumzaan and the lock up seems particularly deep, much more then any of my other framelocks, has anyone else have a similar "lock up"? Is this something i should contact CRK about??

I would also say that unless you just cannot stand it keep it. It looks like a very solid lockup and on a hard use folder such as the umnumzaan one might argue that it is actually better to have more of the lockbar under the tang. The further under the blade the lock bar is the longer the distance the it has to travel to disengage the lock. Not that I've EVER heard of a lock failure on a CR knife or come to think of it any Ti framelock but it is a theory worth mentioning.

plus the lock looks to be as thick as the blade, so that is actually like a fixed blade, lol.

I do agree it extends more than usual, but the "flaw" is a visual one, not a mechanical one since the ceramic ball will wear a lot longer than ti.

My 2 Zaans are the same as yours !!! NORMAL !!! :D:D:D Rickster:D:D:D

cool! i guess i was worried that the depth of the lock up would give this knife a shorter life and my 2 sebenzas showed much less of an "engagement", in reality it will probably last longer then me!

Mine locks up at 75 %. I wondered about the lockup when I got mine too.

Yours should be fine and easier to release than mine.

do not forget the umnum use a ceramic ball that is not centered at the edge of the lock bar, so I figure what appears to be 75%+ is really only 50%- or just about perfect.

since the ball is harder than the blade there should be zero appreciable wear for many decades to come.

looks fine. CR knives tend to have the bar run farther than most other knife companies with framelocks. My sebenza runs about the same, maybe even a little further

This is what I thought about the Zaan also. Don't look at the bar but where the ceramic ball is. Mine locks up the same.
