So my Umnum is performing just fine. The lockup seems very solid and in line with where it should be. However, I did notice some wear on the blade due to the ceramic ball detent. Is this normal? I would assume so due to the design, and the fact that CRK are awesome and the man definitely knows what he is doing.

Let me clarify this: my Umnumzaan WORKS PERFECTLY. I AM IN NO WAY CRITICIZING CHRIS REEVE AND HIS KNIVES. I'm just double checking with this wear point.

Looks normal to me, the four that i've had all did the same thing, and the lockup has not changed a mm on any of them.

I concur, this is normal. You have nothing to worry about. Ceramic is far harder than the steel even at 60RC, so it will show wear marks. I have used my umnumzaan heavily. It has these marks and performs flawlessly.

This is just what I would say.

Mine looks the same. Lockup is still rock solid, and I foresee it remaining that way for the rest of its life.

Ah, what a knife!

My StarTac Umnumzaan looks like that too, and the lockup remains as perfect as it was the day I got it.

Yep - mine too.

Mark goes to the halfway point on the tang.

Locks up solid.
