Hey all,

I have been using my umnumzaan for a few months now, and it has quickly become my favorite EDC knife. I just love it! (Thanks for the great design Mr. Reeve :))

Is the little ceramic ball on the lockbar supposed to spin? Mine doesn't, and the blade only seems to glide over the apex of the ball. If I put my finger on the lockbar while moving the blade, I can feel the friction. I am a bit worried about wear, and am not sure what the standard is on this. If its supposed to spin, maybe something just got stuck behind it?

Also, on the newer umnumzaans with the "idaho made" stamp on them (I cant comment on the older ones, this is simply the one I have), is the ball actually ceramic? It looks a lot like a steel bearing to me (shiny)

Cheers!

The ceramic ball is not suposed to spin, it slides over the blade tang. Ths is the same for any detent set up on any knife. Ceramics are very hard wearing stuff and the steel blade tang is pretty hard too. You will not see any wear for a long time to come and even then it will be minimal.
