I searched but couldn't find what I was wanting to know. I have several Sebenzas and one Umnumzaan. The thing I'm wondering is, is the % the lock engages on the Umnum a lot more than the Sebenza. All my Sebbies are just about the same at around 50%. The Umnum is easily 75%. It's brand new and actually made this year. Lockup is tight so I'm not worried about it at all. Just curious since they're different model knives, I wondered if it was supposed to be that way or if it just was on mine.

Again, lockup is tight with no play and I don't necessarily think anything is wrong. I'm just wondering.

Sorry, my camera is out of operation at the moment or I'd attach a pic.

Actually I just ordered another one about 5 minutes ago. So that should tell ya I'm not unhappy at all with the knife. :D

Remember - there is a ceramic ball embedded in the lockbar that has to make contact with the tang of the blade. The ball has to hit the tang at the halfway mark according to CRK, so it forces the titanium part of the lockbar closer to the opposing scale than in the Sebenza. There is no ceramic ball in the Sebenza.

So yes - the lock-up should appear more than a Sebenza, but it'a not a problem unless the bar is touching the opposing scale.

My Umnum lockbar goes to the 75% mark, which puts the ceramic ball at 50%.

Edit - take a look at the tang of the blade near the pivot when the knife is closed - since the ceramic is much harder than the steel it will start to leave a distinctive mark - which should appear centered in the tang.

I have had 3 brand new Umnumzaan pass through my hands and all locked up just like what you describe. I would not worry about it.
