Hi just got my new umnumzaan with old pivot and was wondering about which loctite is the best for use.I do have 222ms,243 and 242.Is there any difference (actual) beetwen them or they are pretty much the same.I know that CRK os recommending 222ms so any input is appreciated.Thanks.

You know the CRK recommendation. My hunch about why they recommend purple rather than 242 blue is that the Delrin tool for dismounting the original style pivot is safer with purple rather than blue. My experience is that purple does break noticeably more easily than blue, but there are a lot of variables that go into that, such as how clean the parts were. If you have purple, there's no reason not to use it.

the purple loctite stays a bit rubbery and the blue crystalizes hard and can really choke up the threads over time. I would stick to the purple, or light duty, for a pocket knife. You can clean it from the threads every couple rebuilds. Its not like its part of a gas engine.

The purple is the best as even if you over do it the pivot will still come free. The blue 242 can bind the thread "too much" and as mentioned that can break the teeth off the tool, if that is what you're using. :)

Yes.....I can attest to the fact that blue can be difficult to get loose! Go for the purple so you don't strip screws like I did:thumbup:
