I bought an Umnumzaan from another forum and has been a nightmare since. I like the forum member, who has a great reputation but the knife (I feel)wasn't sent out when I was told it was. I was promised the tracking number several times but eventually I had to get pushy to get it. When I finally got it 10 days after I bought the knife I tracked it using USPS. The knife finally landed in NY 8 days ago but it hanse't moved. Today I called USPS to verify that the knife is still accounted for but they do not know where it is. They told me that I need to contact the sender so he could open an investigation. Well I tried to contact the seller without any luck. He hasn't been around the forum for a few days.
What typically happens in this case when an investigation has to be open?
This sucks man. I just want the dang Umnumnzaan. Iv'e been itching to get another after having to sell the one I had before.

I have no idea, but I have read that there is some funky legislation going on in NY that some vendors and manufacturers are changing policies because of. Is it possible that the knife was seized?

I think the Umnumzaan could be interpreted as a gravity knife by these regs and therefore possibly be deemed illegal. I will refrain from sharing my opinions on this....

Like I said, I have no idea, but perhaps.....

the post office doesn't do tracking like UPS for Fedex does. The post office only scans packages when they feel like it. This includes pickup and delivery and whenever they feel like it in between. if it was sent priority mail you should contact the post office, if it was sent parcel post give it another week.

I doubt it has anything to do with the NY knife laws as the knife was not sold in new york it's just traveling through in a box. I also doubt they do interstate customs checks, that's more of an international thing.

Contact the post office is my advice.

He already did contact the post office and mailing banned items into a state can be just as bad as buying them in the state (with the bonus of some Federal Mail charges if things get nasty). My advice is to sit on it for a few days and if you still don't hear from the seller, post this in GB&U. You may need to state his username to see if anybody has any more info on him that will help you get a hold of him. Good luck.

Note: What's going down in NY right now is really sad. I'm sorry that Americans have to needlessly loose the ability to collect and use tools because of the feelings of people who are trusted with power.

Not to worry. It takes extensive Federal paperwork implementing a court order for anyone, even Federal law enforcement, to open a package in transit.

BBQ BOY, go with what USPS told you and continue to try to contact the seller so he can ask for action.

The seller finally responded as he just returned from vacation. He said he would contact the post office.

I sent a usps money order, as I often do, via priority mail, it should have taken 3 days to get to the recipient, it took 3.5 weeks. The p/o couldn't explain what happened but they said it would most likely show up at some point. I have only had something like this happen once with the usps. Try to relax, it will work out man.
