So the O-Rings on my Umnum were looking a little loose. They never fell off, weren't looking ragged or anything, just loose. So I swung by HomeDepot today and picked up some #60 Danco O-Rings (1/4"O.D. x 1/8" I.D. x 1/16"). Where my knife was audibly clicking open, it has since gone to 'whisper' mode, just like I picked it up. Lock up seems pretty stable. I threw on some kevlar gloves, and gave the blade a couple spine whacks via my desk and a wooden mallet's handle to check for any failures. So far, so good.

If it should fail, I'll let you guys know.

Has anyone else replaced their o-rings?

I put some GITD o-rings on, but they are a little small I think, so opening there is more of a "snick" sound.

Will that hurt my Umnum?

So far for me the ultimate in fit, silence and durability are the Vitons. Literally silent flicking, no sag and no denting like the teflon...

Yeah, sorry I'm on my phone...go to amazon and search 006 Viton. I think it's 100 for $4...a lifetimes worth!

The o-rings have nothing to do with lockup, why would you hit your umnum with a mallet?
