Is the O-rings in 'Zaan are necessary? Nothing happens without them?
Except for the sound ;)
What do You think?

They just provide some grip for opening and cushion the thumbs stubs when opening and closing. The knife works perfectly fine without them.
 
In combination with the ceramic ball detent, they do make the knife unusually quiet to open, lock and unlock. :thumbup:
 
They are very easy to replace. I found some at home depot for a couple bucks that fit really well, and actually provided a little more cushion than the stock o-rings.
 
I also bought some at the tattoo&piercing store but I was wondering if will be ok without them.
 
It'll be absolutely fine without them, just a bit louder when you open it.

Like many others I found some high quality replacements at the local hardware store priced really low. I have some glow in the dark rings from the tattoo shop that another forum member gave me on one of my Zaan's now- they're pretty sweet. There are lots of colors available if you search around and CRK will sell you some as well.
