Umnumzaan OR Sebenza 21

So we all know the new 25 is out and up and coming. Many have said it combines the best characteristics of both the Zaan' and the 21. So the question is, between the two of those (Sebeneza 25 aside), if you could only carry and use only 1 forever, which would it be? The comparison is mainly centered around the Large and the Zaan'. I have personally owned and carried both at one point or another and still am totally undecided. :p Curious to know which you all prefer and why.

The Zaan :) why? hmmf i where accually very put off by the Zaan becouse of the lack of pivot bushing, to be honest i where kinda put off by CRK in general, my first CRK was a Small plain 21, it took me 6 months to get it from a Swedish dealer.. in that time i accually got more into larger knives, got me a SnG and the Sebbie never really got used. but i kinda fell in love with the Insingo shape and found a Large Insingo with micarta, so i figured i would give CRK a new chance. and yup i love that knife to death :)
but yeah as i said above about the Zaan i liked the look but really wanted the bushing i pushed on buying one (stupid yup) but after i saw that they where switching to the new pivot i really felt the need of getting one before the old ones where all gone. not much luck there. but i jumped on a Tanto Zaan with the new pivot. mainly becouse of the old jimping;) but yeah thanks to my Insingo i got my Zaan and the Zaan dident seem to wanna leave my pocket untill the 25. dident really answer your question tho, i guess it comes down to that i really like the ceramic ball :P and dont feel the need for the bushing anymore, its a very simple design that works great!
 
i have a large regular and a zaan. ive had a 21 in the past but like the feel of the regulars better. when i got my zaan i was torn b/t the two but ultimately ive gravitated towards the zaan. and i have the old pivot style which i like the look of it a lot. so my vote goes to the Umnomnomnom.
 
I say just pick the one you like best. Looks aside they are all very comparable in -always prepared- EDC carry.
 
Both great choices, you can't go wrong with either.
For me the answer is hands down the umnumzaan! I really like the 21, it feels great in my hand and is all that I'd ever need in a knife. I hated the umnumzaan at first but found that after some time with it I couldn't find anything to take it's place in my pocket.
The zaan gives you a thicker blade and handles but still carries thin, although there's no bushing you won't miss it, the pivot holds fine fir my three with or without loc tite. The action is smooth, the lock up solid, it's quiet to open, and I prefer that my first finger isn't forced into the lock recess/relief cut on the zaan like it is on the 21, I don't like squeezing the lock tighter when really cutting hard and I don't have that problem with the zaan or regular sebenza's. Although you don't have it as a choice the 25 is a really sweet knife too and would be all that you'd want in either of the other two. I still carry my zaan even with the sweet siren call of the 25 from my knife drawer trying to cure me in.
Umnumzaan all the way, 21's tip looks too dainty for a big knife.
 
it seems like me and u 1AbominAble1 think very much alike :) and yeah the 25 hasemt left my pocket for other than cutting. sorry but the Zaan is just laying there beside his other Ti Framelock friends :)
 
For me it's the Zaan. The look, feel and functionality all work for me but ultimately they have to work for you. Both are superb knives.
 
OK I say go with the 21 because they are phasing it out. I really like the bushing of the 21 versus the 'zaan. The zaan is a little on the agressive side for me.:thumbup:;):cool:
 
Zaan for me. Just feels so right in my hand; plus, I'm crazy about the Zaan's blade profile.
 
I have had both and I would say a 21 without question. Umnum (especially with old pivot) has the 21 on looks but I think the 21 is superior everywhere else.

Easier to deploy because thumb stud is easier to get too
Better ergonomics
Easier to disengage lock

Most other things are pretty similar for me
 
I have both and I prefer the zaan. It just says badasssss... Most important of all, it speaks to me... :)
 
i must say im impressed i really tough this thread would go more to the 21 but hey gotta love the Zaan :)
