Was at ralphs today and picked up some scotch brite. Was thinking about giving my umnumzaan the scotch brite treatment! I know nothing about scotch brite,is this what people generally use for the treatment or am I way off??

That's a bit different. Home depot or the local hardware and automotive stores will have what you need. Red/coarse, green/medium and gray/fine will be the 3 different grades though coarse and fine is usually all you find. I would start with the gray/fine first.

Thats not quite the same kind i used but i did use the green one. It turned out great to me.

I'd ask your question in the CRK forum. Quite a few members have used scotch brite on their Zaans. I used it on mine but not that type....Yours brand new

much too abrasive, be sure to have water on the SB. I'd start with a small area on the back scale to make sure you're getting the rusults you want.

Don't use too much pressure at first, you can always go over it again with pressure. I hope this helps.

Ask your question @ CRK and get a variety of answers. I SB the clip on my 25 and it's showing scratches a little less.

It's a bit different. The scouring pads should just be plain nylon, which in and of itself could certainly affect the finish of the titanium, but it would take forever. The other kind should have abrasives mixed into the nylon, which would speed up the process, but still takes a while simply because it's not pure abrasive like sandpaper, but often makes for a more beautiful finish because of it, and doesn't remove as much unnecessary material.

I'm just wondering how you're going to get into those hard-to-reach areas like the texture cut into the titanium handles. Sounds like something I might want to try with my zaan once I get my belt sander, but again I'm curious about those little crevices in the ti. Seems like an even bigger issue if the goal is to keep in one direction, but I suppose it wouldn't look too bad if only the flat parts were satin finished.
