Thinking about getting my first CRK. Already have a military and para and am looking to take it to the next level. Was thinking about doing the umnun with tanto blade but am worried that it might be too big and bulky up front and not be great for finer tasks. Is this a legitimate concern? Does this blade not excel at certain tasks?

I freaking love the look of it. It definitely speaks to me more than any other CRK or seb

Buy it...you'll love it. If you rock a Military then the Umnumzaan is a step down in size. I used mine all the time...I now regret selling it. I need to get another one now...S30V and no LBS is my preferred style. For now I am content with my Tanto Lg Sebenza.

Pros/Cons of Umn Tanto vs Seb Tanto?

Which did you like more?

I liked my Umnumzaan slightly better as the blade was a little more robust. The Sebenza is more of a cutter/slicer for me. Whereas the Umnumzaan being slightly longer (beefier?) was more of a do anything knife for me. Personal preference I guess.

If you are concerned about the tip of the Zaan, go with the standard blade profile. I just received mine yesterday, and after sharpening, the tip is one of the sharpest I have seen. The swedge is almost "semi-sharp" and paired with the clip point harpoon profile you are left with a very keep point, and nice belly.

My Umnumzaan will definitely see more carry time than my Lg Inlay Sebenza. Its a beast of a knife.

I've carried a Tanto umnum for more than 3 years, I haven't found anything yet that it won't do. The standard profile is definitely pointier/keener than the Tanto but the Tanto is still VERY pointy and sharp as well as tough and beefy.

I've scraped paint, whittled, stabbed( pretty much anything I can get away with :D ), sliced, and chopped with it, other than the edge not being as polished as how CRK does it you'd never be able to tell that it's been used at all by looking at the blade. It truly is a beast of a knife that doesn't feel like it's a beast of a knife, it's Just right!

I'd sell every other knife I own before I part with mt Tanto and from what I've read about them over the years I can safely say that most of the other people that've used one feel the same way.
