Umnum (I'm numb:rolleyes:) with love for this knife! I can't believe I actually put it up for sale the day after I bought it. Luckily I was cheap (or greedy?) and didn't compromise on the price too much, so nobody stepped up with a straight offer to buy. Strange thing was the number of trade offers--about 7--for Microtech knives and other "tactical" blades. And I have to share that I was as close as close can be to trading up for an SnG DGG. I am very happy for having walked away from that deal. I simply didn't pay close enough attention to the Umnum and give it a fair shake.

Since this isn't a review, I'm not going to go into any great detail about what I had problems with initially... but suffice it to say this fantastic knife has really grown on me. Actually, that's not sufficient. I will add one more thing: this is easily the sharpest knife I've ever had out of the box. My Caly 3 comes pretty close, but isn't quite on par. And I didn't think it was possibe before I tried, but hitting it on some 1 micron diamond spray and leather took it to otherworldly levels of sharpness. I love this combo of a super tough and rugged titanium framlock with a dangerously sharp edge. I LOVE THIS KNIFE!

P.S. Regardless of how much I'm enjoying the Umnumzaan, I am still a bit sore about passing on a small Sebenza 21 w/ box elder inlays, gold double lugs, gold spacer, and polished blade. I've since discovered that it's a pretty rare piece, at least to date.

congrats my friend, glad to hear you regained your senses in time :)

Mine is waiting in the US for me...hopefully I'll have the same attraction you have now, and it'll be a mainstay in the pocket.

The more you use it the more youll like it.It may even be your main edc

the way my Zaan has.

Enjoy :D:D

While not appropriate for me to carry every day, I think that the Umnum is really an amazing knife. Good call.

The Umnum is my next folder...After i get this next order in from Busse, im definitely going for a zaan:D:D:D

Hah! I considered trading this for a Busse, but ya can't carry a Battle Mistress in your pocket everyday. Although I'm convinced that some guys do stuff their pants with Busses to "overcompensate".;)

what is that little far left knife? love that!

Both little fixed blades are neck knives from Canadian knifemaker and fellow forumite Craig Wheatley (CKE Knives). He seems to specialize in neckers and other small, pocketable fixed blades. I recently picked them up at a knife show, and he occasionally sells some of his knives here in the makers forum. The tiny one you asked about is his popular Micro Bleach model. Mine is CPM 154 w/ G10, but he likes to shake it up in terms of materials and has also used D2, 01, 440C, 1095, carbon fiber, cord wraps, and natural woods. I stated in another post that I actually trust these wonderful, unobtrusive little neck/pocket fixed blades more than even my Umnumzaan, for the simple and obvious fact that there are no moving parts to fail or break.

I've been eyeing one of these since they came out.
Is the thumb stud closer to the blade pivot point on the Umn than it is on the L-Sebenza? The one thing I couldn't warm up to on the L-Sebenza was that. Opening it didn't feel right for me.
Really like the Umn.

I sold my first Sebenza Regular because it was difficult to get used to the stud being so close the handle when closed. A while later I picked up both a large and small Seb Classic. Much easier to open. I now EDC and Umn and have NO problems getting it open by pushing more on the bottom of the stud near the blade.

:thumbup:Congrats on your Zaan!

:eek:Wow!I don't think I'd a been able to resist that one!
