Hello friends, and thanks in advance for your responses.

I write from a position of someone who has drunk the CRK cool aid and asked for seconds, thirds, etc.

My question is how hard do you use the umnumzaan. To give perspective I'd be replacing my benchmade mpr/750, a thick bladed and handled knife. I use it without worry to pry bark off logs for the smoke box among other harder tasks. To be honest, it's taken more than a few whacks. Could the umnumzaan replace this knife?

Chris would smack me if he knew of some of the mistreatment I've headed on a Zaan in the past.

My zaan feels like it is begging to be used hard. It's soul screams for it. Unlike any other folder I own.

I don't use it that hard honestly, and I really feel like it's somehow disappointed in me.

All this with no loss to the tip or integrity of the lock mechanism?

To be completely honest I paid something like 130 for the MPR and it always had a little rock.

I don't think you're alone there and that's precisely why I would like to know about experiences from those who verge on abusing it.

Verge on? What I did to that knife in the sandbox was outright abuse in one instance. I didn't have a better option at the moment than to do what I did, and a cheap knife probably would have failed.

I try not to get stupid with my knives. But, sometimes laziness overcomes sensibility. I've been on the line of hard use a few times. I'm more confident with my Umnumzaan/25 in those situations than my 21's, but that's just me.
I've never, nor will I ever baton with any folder.
So far it's held up without any issues for a couple of years now.

I've not abused mine yet, but I did take it apart, and if someone damages the pivot on that sucker, they were doing something REALLY dumb. :)

Yep, that was deal. I see them closer to $300 quite a bit, that's not a huge difference.

No reason I can think of you can't say what it went for. Now I'm kind of curious.

Other than registered users cannot ask about valuation..

SECTION 5 - Miscellaneous -
WHAT IS MY KNIFE / GADGET / SPATULA / TUNING FORK WORTH ?!?!?!?!
In order to curtail potential abuse of membership privileges associated with the forums, questions regarding valuation of knives and collections are limited to those with a membership level which permits selling on this site. Accordingly, registered and basic members may not start or post in threads with such requests whether with the intent to sell or for informational purposes only. This rule applies throughout the site.

Not quite the same, but it can be interpreted this way by others. No offense meant for the person asking of course.. When in doubt...
