I just noticed today that my black 1850g10sw has very un-even primary bevels. I came home and checked my orange one and the grinds are spot on.

Has anybody else noticed that, or did I get a "special(-ed)" one?

Thanks

Some times slip ups happen. They're sharpened by hand.

Send it back to Kershaw, and they will make it right.

i may be using the wrong term when I say primary bevels. The grind I am talking about is above the sharpened edge and below the spine of the blade. on one side this grind is quite a bit higher than the other.

I have had five Kershaw knives since the late 90s.
Every one of them was like this, no exception.
Black Boa.
Black Leek.
Random Task Knife.
Junk Yard Dog.
Junk Yard Dog II.

I was told to send them back.
When is enough ENOUGH?

I'll never buy another kershaw again, EVER.

YMMV.

I have had Thousands of kershaws in my hands and never have I seen this problem. Guess my eyes just are not as good as yours.

Yeah.. I've only had one bevel that wasn't totally even.. it's not like it hurt my cutting performance. It came out with the very next sharpening too.

Should I put up some pics, or is this normal?

Thanks for the input cbxer, but Kershaw is about the only knife company I will buy knives from at this point in time because I feel that they have the best value when it comes to folders.

Personally, I wouldn't (and don't) care if the primary grind is symmetrical or not. As long as it opens, locks, and stays closed safely, and cuts like its supposed too, it's just fine with me! :D

Sheesh cbxer55, you just seemingly never stop:

It's very sad that there are people who complain about everything. Sure I've complained about knives in my past; many people have. Now I look back on it and see I was just having a bad day.

Maybe some peoples days are just bad all of the time.

@dfarm No need to post pictures to make us believe you. If it bugs you, just send the knife in--Kershaw will make it right.

Wow, you must have the worst luck in the world.

Or something.

It isn't even a problem. Just grind the bevels to your preference. Edges are temporary things that need continual maintenance. Just maintain it.

Lol @ Tripon's post. Cbxer, I've yet to receive a Kershaw with uneven grind much mote than a degree or two off, just slighty off and only noticeable with the sharpie trick on the sharpmaker. I haven't handled a hundredth of how many kershawguy has but I've yet to hear this be a chronic problem with anyone.

To the OP, I say either sit down and fix the bevels yourself since it couldn't take too long, or pay the shipping to send it in. I would just sit down for an hour and fix it but that's just me.

I'll give you $95.00 for the Random Task, sight unseen. Wait a second, the grind is messed up, so I'll only give you $100;). Get yourself a gold membership so you can sell here and you've got a deal. I could find a loving home for that Random Task in my collection. I hate to think that it's sitting in somebody's drawer being despised all the time.:D

Let me know

BTW; Uneven grinds happen (buy enough knives).
Yes my Tyrade (Model #?) Stone Wash Black G-10 had a minor uneven grind. But I can't give KAI lip about their sharpness. It was sharp anyway.
KAI knives are all insane sharp!!

Especially when they come back from service. You guys want to see an edge? Just send one in for a free sharpening. You have to see what they return. Sharper then NIB. No lie.

C1 I guess no longer the KAI #1 pain in the "A"

KS1850G10SW is the model #

I have to agree with you.
My CB Leek was razor sharp when it came back from Kershaw.

On a side note, Dobson did a heck of a sharpening job on my JYD II CB when he made some scales for it. I still haven't had to sharpen it.
