Unable to tighten BM30?

I recently decided to make an attempt to tighten the loose handles on my BM30. The handles are way out of alignment and I can push the latch to the outside of the safe handle when open. I tried using a 3lb sledge hammer and a punch, but that didn't have any effect on the Bali so I went over to the vise. One pin at a time I attempted to clamp the vise jaws down on the pin. I clamped down until I couldn't move the tightening bar anymore and when I loosened the jaws the bali was just as bad as it was before I started. So the sledge and the vise didn't work, are the 30's just made loose or is mine impossible to tighten?

Don't feel too bad. Some BM's are just not meant to be adjustable. I can show you a BM 45 that is as bad as yours, but I can't for the life of me, make a dent in the adjustment.

I belive those tricks only work on the cheapies. :barf: Too bad. It's a nice knife man.

am I wrong in assuming Benchmade doesn't service older knives?

No your right, BM wont service the disontinued models like my 45.
