I have just recieved my new Spyderco Native with CPMS30V steel. Naturally, I gave it the shave test right away to see if I would have to get the stones out right away.
Not only did this little philly shave, but for the first time ever, I plucked an arm hair, then later a scalp hair and cut the free hanging hair with less that an half inch of running the blade over the hair.
Now I thought I was really great at sharpening my other knives, but I never got a blade this sharp!
Whether it is standard sharpening for Spyderco, the fantastic steel, or a combination of both - Thanks Sal and thanks to a great product. I have a new primary EDC!!!!:p :p   :p :p:)

Mine was crazy sharp out of the box too!! Native is an amazing knife. I still like my Delica's ergo's better though. Just feels great in the hand!

I received my about two weeks ago and yours is not a fluke. Mine too, was freakishly sharp for a production edge. I didn't try the scalp hair test, there's not enough to sacrifice for that:), but I believe it!

I agree theyre pretty sharp, having played with a few recently, but the absolute sharpest knife out of the box for me was my Buck/Mayo, i was actually a little frightened because i have a tendency to cut myself while playing with even moderately sharp knives, so i knew i was in big trouble. :) The good news is, it cuts your thumb very cleanly... S30V can be ground VERY sharp. Come to think of it, im not sure i own a knife that hasnt drawn "first blood" from my poor thumb. :)

Strider folders are the next sharpest i have encountered.
