Ok guys CRK are not something you see very often here in my part of the world. There are a couple dealers but you never see them around. I recently got my first, a small seb, anyway I was all worried about this knife, I didn't know if I would like it or not and I really wanted to see one before I bought it, but there is nowhere to see them around here so I went ahead and I got one online and I love it :D anyway, I work on an oil rig and we have had the same consultant (oil company rep) for 2 years now. I noticed that he always carries a black sheath on his belt an has for as long as we have worked with him. Today we got a new wellhead in that was wrapped in selophane and I was having a hard time ripping it off so he opens up his sheath and hands me his knife......A large classic sebenza:eek: here I was worried about not viewing one of these before buying online and there was one in my presence for 2 years and I never even knew it.....Kinda wishing I got a large now:thumbup:

The small is a great knife, good little worker. The large is better for most work tasks though. If you're working on an oil rig, and maybe looking for a good fixed blade, check out the Nyala. I've had quite a few Sebs, but am on a fixed blade kick lately. The Nyala is a great knife.

It cut through the selophane like it wasn't even there. I don't carry a knife on the rig, especially not an expensive knife. There is to much crawling around in the mud and ways to loose the knife, caustic chemicals and so on. I'm not a roughneck anymore I'm the derrickman now but I still get down and dirty and carrying a knife would limit my mobility, then again I have never tried it, they give us crappy little banana knives to use for cutting on the rig. I don't know how i'd feel about loosing my sebbie or a Nyala down a 3000Meter well. I am going to get a Nyala in the near future tho. It's ok for the consultant, toolpush or driller, they don't do much of anything.

Not trying to go off topic, but what do you carry on the rig?

I don't carry anything, we have banana knives also called linoleum knifes for cutting. They kinda look like little karambits. They just give them to us and they are good cutters for about 5 minutes, when that ones blunt I just grab another one. I do wear my sebbie too the rig but it stays in my locker, they give us all the tools we need and when that tool is busted they give me another so I don't need to use my blade on the rig.

Very cool story, there has only been a few incidents where I have met individuals that actually own knives above sheeple knowledge.

i agree, very cool that the guy wipped out a large seb

and i rarely run into people who like the knives that we do. ;)

Yeah and this guy is 65 years old.It was the last thing I would expect from that old boy. When asked where he got it he said some gas station/gift shop when he was in Arizona a few years back:thumbup:

Yeah I know, he said they sold a bunch of different knives. He has absolutly no idea what he has there. He said it cost alot but he only bought it cause he liked the fact it had titanium handles, he didn't realize alot of high end knives use titanium in thier handle material, I told him all about it today and now he thinks i'm a nut case:confused: He didn't even know what blade steel he has in that knife, he paid no attention to the birth certificate he just tossed it in the trash as soon as he left the store:eek:
