I know that this has probably been beat to death but the search isn't working right now, Who is using the uncle al's grinder? and would you recomend it? I will probably get a KMG but the V/S grinder from unckie Al is only $1250.00.
Thanks Louis

I have been using one since last summer and I have no complaints. It runs on 220vt which is not stated on the website. I have yet to lug it down so it has all the power you would need. The speed control is a Baldor and is very sensitive, you can slow it down to almost a dead stop. It comes out of the box ready to go. I had to make up and adapter/extension cord for it but that is all I had to do before I was using it. Al backs his grinder 100% and will answer all of your questions. Just be sure to order it well ahead of time since he rarely keeps them in stock. I was lucky and he finished building the one I ordered three days later.

It is very heavy and takes up a good chunk of space on the bench. The 36 and 40 grit belts need to be extremely tight or they wobble a bit until they warm up. I also use it on wood alot since the slow speed will not burn the harder woods.

I would buy one again and recommend it. Since I have never used any other 2x72's I can't compare it to any other but I have no need for any other bells or whistles. It uses Bader wheels so you can change the wheel size down the road.

Finngan Do you know if it is possible to get a small wheel attachment for this grinder? Also can you use a 8-10 in contact wheel?

Give Riverside Machine a call or email. There is enough adjustablity to accomodate many wheel options.

Not a bad looking machine. Looks solid enough. I am sure it can do the job and it sounds versitile too.
Thanks for the link and good luck with whichever way you go.:D
