The postman delivered a package to me at work this morning. It was a 12" Kothimoda (I think that's right). I must assume that it is for coming in second place in the 77,777th post contest. Bill you are too generous. I will treasure this gift, as it comes from a man I respect and admire. Blessings on you and your house. Thank you, it's beautiful. Hopefully I can post pictures tonight. It has a horn scabbard with silver work. The handle of the khuk is white bone or horn, and it has a tiny karda.

Thanks again to you and Yangdu.

Steve Ferguson:D

I didn't know there was a 77,777 contest going on.

I don't know if I can wait another 700,000 posts :(

It's the new marketing company Bill signed on. They're sending out Khukuris to select members on the forum. A heavily armed Ghurka will appear on your doorstep with a bill in a week to ten days.

The handle is actually spotted deer horn. The knife itself is silver mounted but the scabbard "silver" fittings is the "white metal" -- silver is too soft to hold the scabbard together.

We'll look forward to pix.

That is one helluva gift man. Uncle, you are a very generous man (but I already knew that). How does this 77,777 competition work ?

Same thing except it has both karda and chakma.

77777 is once in a lifetime Nevada inspired khukuri jackpot.

...and it's sitting in my Post Office right this minute, screaming for me to leave work and take it home!!! :D :D :D

WOW!!!

That looks like it would be a great carry khuk. You could wear it to the picinic table at a Khukuri Konvention. It would make a classy steak khuk!! One should wear only the best to the table, right?

Seriously. Congrats to the both of you. That is a fine and dressy looking khuk. A wonderful addition to anyones collection. Uncle Bill , Great gift and a super thing to do. Thanks!

Just another confirmation that this is the coolest place to hang out on the internet! :D

I thought we were only at around 45,000 posts  . ...

Congrats youse guys!!

Alan

It is not only a graceful gesture and a beautifull artifact, but with the silver fitting will it not also slay vampires?

She arrived today. Ferg's picture is indicative of the craftsmanship that went into this fine piece of work, with some slight differences in the scabbard adornments.

The knife is typical Bura (exemplary). The scabbard is gorgeous.

I'll try and see if I can borrow a digital camera.

Just for fun, I compared this knife with the 12" Sirupati I got from Pat. They are very close in all dimensions except the belly on this one is just slightly deeper.

Thanks Uncle Bill and Yangdu.

Thanks to all of you. If it weren't for you folks I wouldn't have been inclined to hang around here and be the lucky guy who made that post. All of you make this a truly special place.
