Many of you may know Uncle Bill Martino. He passed away today. The HI forum has a thread on the news. A very sad day for his family and Blade Forum members as well. He will be greatly missed.

I'm sorry to hear about his death.

Every time I think about his "puri" story, I crack up.

My thoughts and prayers go to his family.

He did what he said he was going to do, and spoke his mind. He will be missed greatly. My prayers go out to Yangdu and those still working at BirGhorka.

Best Wishes, Regards,

STeven Garsson

Bills influence and spirit lives on and that is a good thing.

Rest in peace Bill.

He was a class act. He sent me a kuk one time, said to pay at my leisure.

Adios Uncle Bill.

Okay, so he was a generous guy, sounds like, but who was he?

Himalayan Imports Forum

He was in the business of importing Kuks, and was responsible for the revived interest in them. Many would say he STARTED the interest in them in this country. He had a deep respect and love for his wife's country and culture.

I spoke of him as being kind and trusting.

Well then, with the respect I pay kukris, God bless him. If he had a hand in getting my kukri to me, in a roundabout way, anyway, then he's a friend in my book. Sorry I didn't get to meet him.

He was far more than just a "generous guy." He was far more than just an honest guy and far more than just a trusting guy. He was also far more than just being important in fostering interest in khukuris. He was even more than just a cornerstone of the BFC community spirit.

He was all of those things and he was a truly GOOD man.

Everyone whose life was touched by his in even a small way is going to miss him. RIP Bill.

The Himalayan Imports website is more than just knife sales. It has a history of the khukuri and the biographies of the people of BirGorkha, including Uncle Bill.

As much as anything else he did, he made the Cantina, the Himalayan Imports forum on BFC, a place for some very good people to hang out.

Here is a very nice thread about Bill Martino. I really hope he knew how his kukri-wielding brothers feel about him.

Leaving the Rest Unsaid
By Robert Graves

Finis, apparent on an earlier page,
With fallen obelisk for colophon,
Must this be here repeated?

Death has been ruefully announced
And to die once is death enough,
Be sure, for any life-time.

Must the book end, as you would end it,
With testamentary appendices
And graveyard indices?

But no, I will not lay me down
To let your tearful music mar
The decent mystery of my progress.

So now, my solemn ones, leaving the rest unsaid,
Rising in air as on a gander's wing
At a careless comma,
