You prepay for a special order like silver mountings and they'll give you just what you want.
EXCEPT OF COURSE...
Sometimes it's a little difficult to get the idea across. There's always the time Uncle ordered the dui chirra blade of the Hanuman on the standard handle of the WWII. He ended up with a batch of 18" WWII blades with wood Hanuman carved grips and accessories. Matter of fact, those of us who bought the "Hanuman Specials" incessantly ranted and raved over their balance and superb abilities to use as both chopper and fighter Uncle Bill finally gave in and started ordering 18" WWII's in addition to the 16.5" that they had always made. There were no 18" WWII's made by HI until the Kamis screwed up Uncle Bill's order. Since then I've tried and tried to grab one of the 18" WWII's of the PGA or UBDOTD. Never did, but I have the Hanuman Special, except it's too nice to use.
I had a 16.5" wood handled WWII that irked me. It didn't talk or sing to me. What really got to me was it was just right for taking when you might have to use it for anything, including fight with it. But there was no feel/spirit/life in it for me. I gave it away to someone who appreciated it.
Then I got a horn handled Bura WWII where he'd changed the tip a bit ( making it fatter or blunter ) to increase the sweet spot by extending it farther forward. It was everything the other wasn't. Then it went to a worthy cause. I'm glad it did.
But now I sometimes sit here feeling like I have a tooth missing, until someday I replace it. I've got others to fill the missing spot til that happens. One of these days I'll have both sizes. Until then when I feel lonely I pull out my M43 or Sun, Moon, and Stars, or my 20" HI Chainpuri, or Hanuman Special, or my Kora, or, or, or... so don't feel too badly for me.
Anyway, they're all special, just some are more special than others. Whether they were what you thought you were getting or not.
