Here's the last of the shop 2 18 inch AKs. SN 44. Yvsa has commented on this knife and observed it was close to "ideal hardness." I am impressed with the quality myself.

What's wrong with this knife? The handle developed a crack during the last 4 or 5 days. I attribute this to the 10% relative humidy we have here in Reno during these hot, dry summer months. I epoxied the crack and I don't think the handle will give any problems but just in case this knife goes with full HI guarantee.

Price $120 ($75 savings over shop 1 18 inch AK)

Email me if interested.

Some lucky very quick person is now anticipating the arrival of perhaps the best blade they will ever own.
If I would have seen it first at that price I probably would have succumed to the HIKV and bought it myself.
Somethings are just worth having two of.

I could have told my sweet wife that this would keep me from having to change hands to keep one side from getting bigger than the other like Cliffs has.

All kidding aside. I can't say enough about the quality of these particular blades. When Shop 2 gets thier beauty up to Shop 1's these are gonna be phenomenal !! Not that it is that far behind right now and it shouldn't matter anyway for anyone who is a serious user.IMO.
It would be really great to also have the karda and chakma as big as these are. It looks like from the pic that these are as big as the ones that came with mine.
I believe Uncle Bill posted something not long ago about how to help tell a Kuhkuri's quality by the relation in size the karda and chakma were to the handle on the big knife. These should be shouting that !!!

I have lightly sanded one side of mine with some worn 240 grit emery cloth. I want to see which side looks the best after some use.
I like a smooth satin finish anyway because they usually don't show off the scratches as bad. I think they have less glare in the sunlight too.
I am also considering cold blueing the blade on the Kuhkuri. I have had real good luck with my big Bowie that I done that too.

For those who don't know, Yvsa is a man who has worked many years in a machine shop and has a very good understanding of things metal. I put great stock in his evalution. Dan K. is in the same category.

These are a couple of men who have made knives themselves so I would expect they are like me -- they have made their share of mistakes but learned from them. They know a good knife when they see one. Take their word for it, not mine.

My best customers are those who know and understand knives and those who use knives to extreme limits.
