Here is an 18.5 inch, 2.25 pound, Ang Khola made and marked by Kumar and a fine job he has done with this khukuri. Fit is very good to excellent and finish is magic stone mirror. The edge hardness is Rc 59 or 60 in the chopping area and it is pretty sharp as is. You won't have to spend more than 3 minutes to bring it to razor. Karda and chakma are very well done.

Scabbard and 100 year HI superfrog are done by sarki with no name and he's done a pretty good job.

This is an Uncle Bill Special Deal of the Day for today only, Aug. 10, 2000.

Take this Kumar AK delivered to your door for $95 -- $50 off regular and send Vikash a thank you note. He picked and cleaned this one for the deal of the day. You will have to go to Nepal to beat this price and even then they may hit you up for more and you won't be able to match the quality.

Call or email if interested.

Can't believe it.

I just hit the HI forum table of contents just before I was about to leave work for the day and there it was: exactly what I have been looking for!
biggrin.gif

As Jim keeps saying, now I've got just what I need and I'll never need to buy any more.

Khukuri FAQ

Unlce,

Is that the one you sent me by accident? If so, Paul, you will be very happy--that is one FINE khuk!

Rob

Just decided to edit this message--Uncle sent me that one AFTER I had recieved my 18" AK already which was a blem (scabbard only). I had already asked Terry to make me a sheath for it when Paul's Kumar Ak arrived. I must have seesawed back and forth about whether or not to buy that one for 2 hours!! I even tried to get my brother to buy it so I could use it once in awhile, but his money was headed towards a sword. So, alas, I sent it on its way with a tear in my eye.... Ahh, well, I've got a brand new 15" Chiruwa AK with wood handles on its way so I'll be ok--and a newly sheathed 18" AK from Terry coming soon!!

PRN,
The problem you're having is called "KARMA"!I have 2 of Kumar's blades, you're going to love it!Watch out for Vince & the others, they will infect you with HIKV & their next word will be "NEXT"!Don't worry
i'll help you fight it "unlike some, who i won't mention who led me astray"! ENJOY YOUR FINE K
jim.

Bill,
I'm concerned obout Rus,is he "Sick"!
Well, yes i know he's sick, but i mean more than the norm!Is he suffering HIKV withdrawel,(hee, hee)! There was a time he would "not"let a deal like this get away!Do HIKV people suffer like this? OH,Vince, Koz,Blues,Brian,John,Burke you have something
waiting,hee,hee!PRN,see i saved you from this fate,just in time!!jim

It's not my first one, Jim.

I've just been holding out waiting for just the right one. Several times, my good friends on the forum have saved me by snatching the "almost-right" ones that I would have bought out of my hands. Thanks, guys.
smile.gif
But this one is exactly what I have been waiting for, down to the inch, the ounce, the saatisal handles, everything.
biggrin.gif
It had my name and karma attached to it.

Pack it well, Uncle Bill. I don't want that puppy cutting through its scabbard or coming out through its packaging!

Oh, and I do have ideas for the next one. I've been HIKV-positive for some time now.

You were doomed from the first moment you saw a khukuri, Jim.
smile.gif
There is no cure for HIKV. It's like chronic anemia. You can't cure it, you just have to take regular doses of iron.

Only the shape of the iron doses changes.

Update time! It just arrived!

Now that's a knife! (Is this going to be the new HI slogan?

)

It showed up on the forum on Thursday afternoon. I spoke up as soon as I could (Just after Rusty
biggrin.gif
). Uncle Bill sent it out Friday. And here it is on Monday! Pretty hard to beat!
smile.gif

This is one heck of a beefy knife. Makes me glad I didn't get one of the super-heavyweight Sher models. I think this one by Kumar is going to be plenty for just about anything I want to chop. (And I imagine I'll want to chop something real soon -- like right after I take it home.
biggrin.gif
)

The whole rig is well matched to the khukuri. It's all heavy-duty and well executed. The karda and chakma are well put together and are a very good and useful size. The scabbard is just a tiny bit snug, but not badly so and otherwise it is just about perfect -- and with no nailheads in the sections for the karda and chakma. The sarki with no name (yet) did a splendid job on this one.

Thanks, Bill. And thanks to Rob too for letting it back into circulation.

Paul I always get excited when I see another 18"AK.
I think they're the best all around size and weight AK for an average sized person.(whatever/whoever that is)
biggrin.gif

Yours is real close to mine in size and weight, except yours is about 4 ounces heavier I think. I doubt anyone is gonna notice 4 ounces?
If the edge on yours is as hard as what's on mine you will find that you will very seldom have to sharpen it. Perhaps these are the true magic khukur's!?!?!?
