Hi, I'm looking for some Uncle Henry model # 877UH,NIB,
two blade with one blade having a gut hook,
possibly 3-4 if the price is reasonable. Not sure
when this model was discontinued?

Finally. A real knife USER after my own tastes. It is not my intention to impune those of you who are real knife users and happen to have other needs or applications. I merely wanted to congratulate Mr. Meek on his fine taste in knife design. It seems fairly evident from his post that he is a real knife USER and not just a collector. With regard to form, function, ergonomics, and design, IMHO it is far and away the handiest and dandiest small game hunting knife that I have ever used or seen. Among other things, I use mine to unzip & dress at least 60-70 cottontail annually. Field dressing a head shot bunny takes all of 10 seconds with this tool. Used correctly, never are any of the entrails nicked or punctured. Clean fresh meat is the name of the game here.

Now before Schrade or Mr. Faust enlists my services to write ad copy for them (I am available <g>)let me say that I am not without "constructive" criticism here. I would much prefer to see it made in 1095 HC than the 440A it was last made in. This knife is a REAL user and would be an even harder worker in high carbon. While I would like to see both blades in 1095, I would also suggest the addition of a stainless steel button hook for disembowling quail and other fowl if it were in any way possible to do so without destroying the sleek lines and ergonomics of the knife. In my minds eye, this would make it the ultimate small game knife for fur or feather.

Mr. Meek,

I can appreciate the conundrum you are facing. A month or two ago, there was a gentleman selling #877UH knives on E-bay. I had lost my spare somehow and was searching for another as you are. One friend of mine bought 4 of them and another friend of mine bought two. I suspect that the gentlman who is selling them on E-bay had the vision and foresight to buy out most of the factory stock when they discontinued the model. I think bids start out at about $20. After the bid closes and the NIB knife is sold, he some how manages to come up with another #877UH for his next auction. I don't remember his name, but I think that he goes by the handle of Confederate Knife Man or something along those lines. The friend of mine who bought four of them contacted him and a deal was struck. I don't recollect the figure, though.

Hi, there is an 877 UH on ebay right now I saw it in passing I believe the number is 1069317036. It had a bit over 3 days to go last night. I wrote the number down I believe it is the one above. If not go to ebay type Schrade in search and just run through the 10 or so pages. I would confirm the number for you as I had planned to do but ebay is either down or I cannot get in. I hope this helps Rich I checked again a correct number for this model knife is 1803110595 on ebay.

Thanks so much for your help, I've located 4 of them,
Yes, this is a great blade configuration, wonder why they
don't revive it with bone handles or stag.

Thanks so much for your help.

This post got me to look for this little skinner, and it looks nice. I wound up buying one on eBay. Haven't taken delivery yet, but I should be getting it soon.

Apparently, the model name is the Muskrat.

Ok, maybe it's not the Muskrat. Mine said Pro Skinner on the box when it came. Here's a pic:

That is a nice looking knife. Looks like a modified muskrat knife. Guess I'll have to start looking on ebay for one myself. Unless Schrade finds it in their hearts to revive this model, at least temporarily.

It's a shame that Schrade discontinued this model. I have no idea of what their marketing strategy is, but it didn't seem like they carried this model in their lineup for a very long period of time. I wonder if it was really given a fair chance to establish itself as there is virtually no knife (size, profile, configuration) like it on the market. To my limited knowledge, the only time it was actively promoted was when it first came out and that consisited only in bringing it out with walnut scales for the DU series. After that, nothing. I hope the marketing boys are listening and will bring it back with 1095 high carbon blades and perhaps the addition of a stainless button hook for disembowling fowl.

To my knowledge, all the 877UH's offered by the Confederate Knife Man are new in box, but his stock will run out one of these days. Hmmmmmmmm. I really do wonder how many he does have left and how much he got the discontinued stock for. When I lost my backup (stupidity) I really panicked. I now have two backups. Still, if they came out with a model in 1095 with the addition of a button hook, I would get several more. For my purposes and many other small game hunters of fur and feather who have not been educated or do not yet know how purposeful a knife like this can be, it is absolutely indispencible as an EDC in the field for the average hunter. After showing my brother and several hunting buddies and educating them in its use, they all have not just one, but several of these 877UH's as they also would be lost without one in their pocket while in the field. So, to all you Schrade marketing whizzes out there, "Are You Listening?" We're talking multiple sales to individuals who try out these knives. Let's gear up the marketing division and promote the virtues of this knife.:D
