Can anyone tell me the approximate age and value of a Uncle Henry LB8 Papa Bear knife. It is new in the box with a sheath and papers.
Thank You

Oh my... Guess I better re-appraise my collection. These prices are nuts.

Prices on LB8 are steadily climbing...as with most Uncle Henry's, and some Old Timers. The minty ones with box and papers can fetch over $200 depending on bidding pressure...you know auction mentality..I hope...it's not about what it's worth..but beating the other guy...like that's some acheivement.
Anyway..minty's w/box and papers generally sell for $90.00 now on the average...and have the potential to claim much higher.
Mint shape w/sheath figure in at $60 to $120... and the rest if used...depending upon the degree of shape come in slightly below mint quality.
If you are looking to sell...eBay is your best course of action...but if you can hold onto PaPa Bear for awhile...who knows..prices may continue to climb. I've seen an average of $30-$40 increase overall in the last several months. At least with the models in high demand such as yours.
I would have thought prices would have topped out, and they may have for now...until supplies dwindle. This will take some time...but predicting the future is pure speculation.
Personally..I'd hang for awhile..if you can...I've seen most power dealers just increase their lots by another $10 in just the last couple weeks.

As to the age: I thought I saw a post where four pins was pre-late eighties and three pins was post late eighties. And also that some LB8 blades had the LB7 tangstamp.

I was told the LB8's with the LB7 blade were in the last year of production.
I got one of those.

I noticed that many stamps on the blades read:

Uncle Henry
Schrade +
USA LB8

My knife has:
Uncle Henry
Schrade +
LB8 USA

Can anyone tell me anything about the difference?
