Okay, so I get this Uncle Mofo, (Thanks to Idaho)
and I see some darkness on the blade just like a patina starting to form.
My in anal buddy inside my head wants me to polish it up,
but the smart guy inside my head is worried about the ink/imprint, ???what??? coming off, and that's a big deal, right?
So what would you do?
I've oiled it, and my first thought is to just wipe it off with alcohol and ren wax it.
Thoughts?

there shouldn't be any at all, double check to see if it's an oil smudge, wash the whole knife in very hot water with dish soap.

if you want to keep your satin finish looking nice you can also get a pad of the green scotchbrite and lay it flat on a non skid surface. lay the blade sideways on the pad and carefully strop the entire blade lightly to make it look good. it takes a medium pressure and works well.

go in the direction of the original grain or machine marks

stroke it a few and look, do it again till it feels er looks good.

i have removed bad scratches in this manner and it works well even on stainless firearms.

don't be afraid just think a little before each stroke.

they also make about 3 different grades of scotchbrite pads (home depot)
try the medium first then fine.

the laser engraving is pretty deep so it shouldn't hurt it but i wouldn't get drunk and rub on it all day.

the factory uses this method to remove small cosmetic blemishes.

please don't publish this or pass it around, i don't want lots of people to know these secrets.

I don't really see it now,
but I do have it slathered in militech and the light isn't great.

WM, good thing I don't have a digi camera to show you what my wife did to a 'super deluxe finish' ZTNO (from Skunk) that is now a kitchen knife. This thing even came wrapped in tissue paper. I told my wife it cost $50 and that's how she treated it. LOL

I don't think you would want to see my Uncle either, although it's a DC and not a satin.
