So, I have developed this...addiction, I guess you could call it, to knives. It all started with Khukris. (They look cool, do cool things, and you cant beat the price with a stick.) I ordered a 20" Kobra, and from then it has been down hill.

I have been modifying, upgradeing, and improveing knifes left and right and there is no end in sight. I just love these things.

I have thought of building a one brick mini forge, so that during the winter I can attempt to forge outside my now vacant apt complex. (This town becomes a ghost town after finals.) But I think I will stick with stock removal cause of cost, time, and material limitations (You dont screw up as fast with elbow grease).

Most of my christmas list was knife making books and supplies. (However, I dont think I will have any barstock under the tree or lumps of coal in my stocking.:( )

I owe it all to Uncle Bill! Thank you! ;)

P.S. Is it true that if you can survive a good coating of toxic chemicals from grinding materials coated to your lungs that you instantly become able to pick up "Vanessa" type ladies? (Or is this another rumor from the Cave and a perversion of those one legged dancing girls?)

Make the forge, I can get a train load of coal if you need! Bout' time to play bad santa again.

Dave how's that GRS holding up? Have you ever had to touch up its edge yet?
Or is it just getting sharper?:)

Yvsa,
It keeps getting sharper. No literally, all you have to do is touch up the edge every once in awhile with the chakuma and BOOM, scary sharp! From the pics I have seen of the originals made by Ganga Ram, I would swear this thing had his magic.

Speaking of good for your arm! Holy Toledo! I have learned to use a 2 hand hold on that one. Otherwise it dosent get much use.

(While I am on the subject, you have never had the bajesus scared from you until you literally have a 21" 3 1/2lb knife, that is scary sharp, graze what you are chopping and come within 1" of your knee before you stop its inertia. )

Well guys, I might just do what yall want me to do. The pool area of my apt is closed off, and all I need is a torch and one of those kiln bricks. I guess I could start out on 4" blades of 5160 and buy a cheapo 20 lb anvil from HF.

(I betcha I could harden the 20lb anvil in a really big camp fire (Read: "send the coal") with a few 5gal buckets of water, or a water hose from one of those sissy camp grounds)

But all my gear would take away from my Uncle Bill fund. (On second thought maybe I should go forge knives and fight Maoists in Nepal.)

And my neighbors just thought I was scary. ;)
