Greetings all -

I have a single-bit axe that I bought while living in Bosnia (actually I have two). I recently broke the handle and need to re-haft it, but it does not have a standard eye. The eye is similar to a Vikings axe, but that is about the only similarity.....

Here's a few pics of it:

Anyone have an idea where *in the USA* I can buy another handle?

I don't think Helko will have anything that wide. You might have to shave down a pick handle.

Axe "A" in the photo below has a wide-enough eye, and 30" replacement handles are available.
Search for:
Iltis Oxhead axe

Thanks so much!!!

That looks a lot like what I'm looking for.

I do believe this link is close to what I need, but it's currently out of stock......

Yeah - I'm thinking that's probably gonna be the best solution to the problem...

All these imported handles are way on the spendy side..... I'm pretty sure I can go to a 'brick-n-mortar' and pick up a hickory replacement for a lot less.

OK, I've picked up a Hickory pickaxe handle for ~$17. It's going to take awhile to get it shaped properly, but at least I have an option.

Thanks for all the replies!
