:confused:I just bought a mini-Cyclone and a Speed-Bump, both great knives my problem is which one to edc. Since the Cyclone is being discontiued and the Bump harder to find should i put them away or what? Any suggestion .

Well, I would say that it depends on whether or not your planning on selling them at a later date. If you are, then obviously a discontinued model would be worth more if it was in perfect condition. Personally, I don't plan on selling any of my knives, so that doesn't factor into the equation. Therefore I have several knives that discontinued that I use in my EDC rotation. One example is a Spyderco/Kershaw collaboration that I got at a knife show. It's a limited run (has the serial number on the blade) with carbon fiber handles. While I treat it a little better than some of my EDC blades, I still carry it on occasion (makes a really interesting "dress" folder IMHO).

Does that help any? Or were you asking more about which would be better suited to everyday tasks?

I am of the opinion that you should use the knives you buy. What the point of getting a great knife with great ergos for it to sit in a box in a drawer or safe?

I use and carry my Mini-Cyclone Ti/ZDP all the time even though it was a limited sprint run and somewhat rare. But it is such a great knife that I love to carry and use, that I would feel worse having it sit in box than scratching it up by using it and carrying it. It's just to good not to use and the whole reason I bought it.

However that is me and my knives. Some people like to collect knives and appreciate them for their aesthetic or mechanical merits, just like anything else. If that is you then I would say put them away. It really comes down to what type of a knife user/person you are.

At the current discounted prices on Mini-Cyclones, why not buy another for $25? Put one away and EDC the other.

Or buy 7, put two away, mod one to fit you perfectly (EDC) and give 4 away as gifts...at least that my plan...

I would like to see a pic of this knife collaboration - do you have one you can provide..? :-)

Wavester, here's a little info and a pic of the Spyker. One thing they don't mention is that the run was limited to 3000 pieces, and is discontinued. Every now and then you can find one on the auction site, usually around $ 250 or so...

I had one and sold it quickly. It just didn't feel right in my hand.
