Ok, I have a ton of straight/plain edge EDC. I carry an M390 Min-Grip everyday. I like it but benchmade never put a good edge on it and for that it doesnt cut nearly as well as my Para-Mil 2. But the Para-mil 2 is too big. I have a Tenacious and it a combo edge recently I find myself liking the combo edge for cutting zip ties, shipping straps, webbing, and other stuff. I am growing fond of the combo edge for it works quite well. Now my quest is to get a folder that is under 3 or just a hair longer that has a combo edge. My folders currently are, Para2, Tenacious, Mini grips, Mini lawman, HEST2, and more...they are adding up!! Please let me know. Thanks

How long is the delica? And anything with a full flat with combo...I dont think the delica is FFG?

Its blade is 2.87" long. The Delica does come in a FFG version, but it's plain-edge only. The partially serrated version is saber-ground.

Off the top of my head, I don't know of any sub-3" combo edge folders that have full flat grinds. But the Delica uses thin blade stock (.093"), so drag isn't much of an issue even with the saber grind.

Benchmade 707 Sequel is an awesome smaller knife that comes in at just under 3 inches. I have have several, both plain edge and combo.

This size and blade is my preference in EDC. I have 4 of this type, all Benchmade.

Have you looked at the Mini Barrage? It's spring assisted.

If you like Tanto and D2 with G10 scales there is a Warn version you can get under $100.

Had a Mini Barrage. Liked it but I parted with it...a little thick and hard to close one handed. Mine had a lot of slop and wiggle. I was also considering a mini-grip (Combo) but my other mini-grips didnt come with great edges on them. The size, build and so on are ideal on the mini-grip but BM puts such a crap edge on their stuff it isnt even funny! My sypderco come with unbelievable edges. I need to get an EdgePro and just do them myself. But still M390 is not too easy to sharpen that is my main EDC. Also S30V isnt fun sharpening right but certainly is rewarding when you get it sharpened right which is the whole battle in itself.

What about the Spyderco Salt 1? Approximately same size as the current Delica 4 and is available in fully-serrated versions. The blade is H1 steel which is marketed as rust-proof; serrations using this type of steel are said to retain sharpness/cutting ability longer than other steels.

I would go with the Delica with a combo blade. I've been carrying a combo Endura for many years so I think you are on the right track to the best EDC. I will not EDC any knife that is not at least partially serrated. There are just two many man made materials that are difficult or impossible to cut with a straight edge. I generally use the serrations sparingly to save them for when I need to cut something tough in a big hurry.
