I am looking for quality framelock folders for $50 and under. I am already going to pick up a couple ESEE Avispas to add to my user pile, but I am also looking for some other candidates.

I know there are a ton of liner locks and lock backs out there, but I am not seeing too many frame locks for the price point mentioned.

I carry a Folder along with a SAK 100% of the time, and with all the knives I own, I only have one frame lock. ( an older S&W H.R.T.) don't laugh :D. The clip failed on this knife so I removed it and the knife resides on my bass boat for chopping bait and anything else. I only carry cheaper knives when Im on deep water ways for the obvious reason.

The Kershaw/ Emerson collaboration. I think it prices at $30 or thereabout.

Thanks guys. I try to pick up one of each mentioned. Im addicted to trying and using new blades and putting them in rotation for the long haul. keep em coming.

Esse Zancudo since you already want the Avispa. I will second the Emerson/Kershaw models and add the Leek/Shallot/Chive series.

Are Esee and BRK Avispas one in the same?

Yes the ESEE Avispa and Zancudo are made by BRK. The upcoming Izula folder will be made 100% by ESEE, in America.

I second both the Thermite and the Kershaw/Emersons, well worth the price. Skip the Cryo I/II, those knifes have have horrible ergos and the flippers are ridiculously slippery while the thumbstuds are useless.

If I was going to use a knife on salt water, my first choice would be Spyderco's knives with H1. The knives are impervious to rust. A little more expensive than your $50 budget, but the knives need virtually no maintenance.

For what it's worth, I own the Kershaw Cryo and the Kershaw Emerson CQC-3K. Both are decent value knives for the money, but the steel doesn't hold an edge as well as I would have liked and I had fit and finish issues with both, including badly centered blades. Not a big deal, but I did have to disassemble both knives to get them to satisfactory condition.

+1 on the Kershaw/Emerson colabs. You can get a CQC-6K for 29.97 on Amazon and have it by Wednseday if you have prime. CQC-7K is only a few dollars more if you prefer a tanto blade.

I vote Kershaw Cryo. I think it is really a terrific framelock folder, especially for $35.

Any of the Kershaw USA made knives will be really nice for what you pay in the under $50 price range.

The shallot and leek are classics, and are well made. There's some other models as well. And the 14c28n sandvik steel is awesome for what you're paying. Very under rated steel. Guess it's just not trendy, but it sure is one heck of a good steel.

I have a Cryo - nice - but it's slippery as all heck - I can barely hold on to the darn thing. There is a Cryo G10 - wish I had held out for that one.

I'd highly recommend the CQC-6K as well. Excellent ergonomics and the wave is fun to play with. Looks rather dapper with the black blade:
