Okay so I carry a knife for one year and then look into buying a new one every March. I have a lot of the knives everyone has like the PM2 or the 940 and I’m really looking for some hidden “gems” any underrated suggestions?

I really don't think the Spyderco Gayle Bradley has gotten it's due, and even the GB2 is an incredible knife! Ultra smooth action, M4 steel, peel ply carbon fibre, absolutely nothing not to like! I have both, prefer the GB1 to the 2, but the 2 is still available.

I’d recommend the Fällkniven PXL-WH. About $150 in your money at BHQ, I just Googled it for you. I’m an English gent, don’t mention it. ;)

It’s a robust, sorry, bomber folder made in Seki by Moki, the same manufacturer as the most recent Al Mar folders - although they [Al Mar] are now moving to China. Mine is just rock solid. Superb laminate cobalt steel. My grind is slightly skewiff. Does it make a ha’ppeth of difference? Does it heck. Just for full disclosure, since I am sincerely recommending this knife to you. It is the knife I choose to take on my most ‘challenging’ climbing trips, as it is a knife that I trust will not let me down. It is good with winter gloves, (think winter mountaineering), it is good with a bare hand. No nonsense, beefy but a good cutter. A beefed up SERE 2000, which perhaps is not surprising, but without the spit and polish. Very highly recommended by me. I stake my life on it and my climbing partner’s by default.

OP:

To further my suggestion, I took this by candlelight as I’m about to go to bed (UK), Fällkniven is nearest, with a SERE 2K and a much more posh Fällkniven PXL at the top. All Moki, all brilliant. They are all roughly the same size, but the camera angle is deceptive. The PXL-WH is very, very good value. No liners, but once you get it and use it you realise why they aren’t needed.

Couldn't agree more, GB2 had truly become one of my favorite EDCs. I was stunned that I could buy a ply CF, m4 blade, good looking design, nice action blade new for $160 or like I did LNIB for $105. It's incredible the new price but shocking the second hand market prices on these.

WE Rectifier.

WE runs their S35VN pretty well. Advertised 59-61hrc, and it performs like it. The Rectifier has .10” thick blade stock, a high hollow grind, and is very thin behind the edge. Combined with the geometry, the cutting life it offers is spectacular.

It’s also a flipper, and has an opening aperture.

Even has a great pocket clip.

pick up the ZT 0562, not a hidden gem just a great knife. It’s been discontinued so it’s being clearanced. I’ve seen it as low as $149.99 instead of the normal $200 price tag.

Just below your range is a WE Practic. $146, and an M390 flipper. I like my black one so much, I may order the one with khaki scales...

Look into the Massdrop blades now. They are in your price range and very well made. Models to look out for are the Ferrum Forge falcon, Buc and Dao, Brad zinker Dogtooth, Gent, and Crux

All good suggestions. Spyderco Gayle Bradley 1 and 2 are outstanding knives, among Spyderco’s best. GBs are just excellent work knives.

Get a Massdrop Laconico Keen.

Everything about that knife means it should cost way more than it does.
