Here's a pocket knife I just finished up. I call it the Undertaker's Slipjoint. This was my first attempt at scrimshaw on bone. I've scrimshawed a little on antler before but bone is a much harder material and the pores of the bone picked up a lot of the ink, leaving spots. Gives it an antiqued look:o
With info from a Nick Wheeler tutorial on how to dome pins with a rounded nail set, I did that for the first time too. They worked out pretty well, thanks for the info Nick.
Blade is 1084 steel, 1/8" x 2-3/4" long, 6 1/8" OAL. Brass liners and SS bolsters
Opinions welcome. Yes it's about time I got an etcher and stencils for my mark...

Nice package, the whole design works together. I like the way the skeleton looks distinct, but isn't. Gives it a mysterious quality. Simple in appearance but actually complex. A good design quality.

A white bone Case I had would pick and hold dirt/metal shavings from the oil and grit from honing which would darken the bone over time just like above. So I think you've got the "antiqued" look down and it fits the piece making it ready for use :)

I'm liking that!

I have been wanting to try that on a Coffin handle but do not have the skill. Very nice job!

Nice, but spooky. What was your inspiration?

Thanks! I made a coffin handled bowie a couple years ago with similar scrimshaw on an elk antler handle and thought about doing a folder too. Finally got around to it. I also really like the look of scrimshaw lettering on scrolls... they have such an old world look. The text just fit the theme
