Uneven bevel?

I used the 30 degree setting on my sharpmaker for a back bevel on my BM 550 and it seems that the grind goes higher on one side than on the reverse. I did an even number of strokes on each side and obviously I used the same angle for the rod. Do you think its an issue of me not holding the knife straight enough vertically?
 
I've had this trouble, too. Not every knife edge is cut down the center line of the blade. I either reprofile or record the actual angles and sharpen to those specs.
 
it may not be ground evenly as the obove poster has stated. This is the most likeley scenerio I can think of. at the edge straight on(hold knife vertically edge towards you). Does it appear like the edge is off to one side? Anyhow, unless it is severe, I doubt this will have a huge effect on your performance, though it might not look great. If you contact benchmade, they might replace the knife, if you/they see it as a defect in workmanship.
