In case anyone's interested, I just saw for the first time an Ontario RAT 1 Aus 8 in a blister pack at my local Walmart in Tewksbury, MA selling for $27.88. There were 2 of them in the locked glass case.

I'm confused, are you saying it was a 2 for 1 deal? Because otherwise I don't really see what the big deal is, that's pretty much the going price for a rat 1.

I've never seen an Ontario at a Walmart before. Usually just Ozark, Sak clsssics, CRKT and 8Cr13 Spyderco's

Weird, my local wallmart is mostly kershaw, Schrade, case, and Gerbers, but they do have ontario's from time to time, usually fixed blades.
I guess whoever is in charge of sporting goods at each individual store gets to decide what they sell.

I will check out the one in Danvers this week. I might now be able to hold my head up a little higher while shopping at Walmart!

Saw the RAT1 in my local Walmart too last night. They also were stocking the Ontario made Air Force Survival knives :)

Interesting. Although I don't find it interesting enough to step foot into a local wally world.
This knowledge should come in handy while traveling without checked luggage.

Interesting. So you arrive at your destination and pick up the RAT at the local WM...my question is what happens to the knife at trip's end...

Do you foresee yourself mailing it home or maybe gifting it to a friend prior to returning home?

I would say the latter. Really depends on where I am, and if there is someone there to gift it to. Otherwise I'd mail it home then give it to a friend who could use it.

Yup. I stopped at one here in CT earlier in the week and saw the Rat 1, the 499 Pilot survival knife, the Buck Mesa, and Spyderco Reslience, in addition to the regular players.

All in all, it looks like Wally world is stepping up their knife game.

I was in the Wal-Mart in Fairview, OR a while back, when they were doing something selling off a whole bunch of singleton knives. I remember there being a Spyderco Native, a couple of Case slipjoints, and a bunch of Kershaws. I grabbed a Zing with the machined blade and the next time I was there, they were all gone.

Glad to see that you guys are still enjoying the Ontario stuff at Walmart. Don't want to dealspot or break forum rules, but I moved from Walmart to Sam's Club and now buy the sporting goods there. I've "heard" of a super great deal on a RAT1 two-pack on Sam's Club's website.
