I'd like to thank Rhett for the unexpected length of the space he allowed for my notes on my Model 1 in the latest RKS Newsletter.

I expected a brief edited piece. Rhett printed all of my notes to him. Almost embarrassing since it adds no "collector" value to the newsletter. I'm a long time Randall user. My well used Model 1 from the mid '60's is my Randall "collection".

I do appreciate collectors and the knowledge they share and thoroughly enjoy the collector articles from RKS and the posts here and at Knife Forums.

Thanks Rhett!

Almost all of your field expedient 'mods' seemed like good ideas to me, and I especially liked your modified 'saber grip' idea with the ouside of your thumb pressed against the inside of the upper guard to prevent a 'push away' disarm!

Having a friend here in San Diego that teachs the SDPD and SDSD's on proper usage of defensive knife techniques, he teaches a similar program, only deviating by placing the index finger down the outside of the blade in a 'paint brush' hold...leading to an insanely fast and versatile indexing method.

I must admit though, as a 'dyed in the wool' (modified) Weaver stance right-handed shooter for many years, I really had some problems learning to put my right foot forward for the proper knife 'fighting' stance; to the degree that I soon started carrying an asp baton on my weaker side...lol

Anyhoo, yours was a great write up Roshi, well done indeed!
