Unexplained Becker purchase

I did something odd this afternoon. I was about to purchase a Sage titanium, and right before I placed the order, I changed it to a BK-7. I usually stick to folders, under 4 inches. Why did this happen? What can I expect to happen next? I'm already eyeing a couple other Beckers.

you must of experienced the 'i want to stop babying my knife purchases' emotion. you're subconsciously dying to baton the shit out of some lumber.

I made an odd choice on my last purchase. I don't like combo-edge and I was even razzing them in the combo-edge thread. Then while searching for s90v Militarys on the bay I bid on a combo-edge! WTH!

Most beautiful combo edge I've ever seen. And I don't even like the military!

Ah! Yes! I think that's it. I'm tired of owning a bunch of blades that I'm afraid to slice paper with in fear of dulling them. Bring on the lumber!

I like that Military, and I own very few combo edges. I think I own 3 total out of like 50 or so knives. That thing is sweet!

The Becker bug is a strong one, but unlike most other forms of bugs, you'll probably enjoy this one (wallet... maybe not).

I actually don't have a BK7 yet. But my BK9 is my most used outdoors knife right now (my mora is probably my #2).

Here it is. In the sheath I carry a BK11, SAK farmer, and a firesteel.

None of us know what happened. It creeps up on you until it just is suddenly there. No warning, no symptoms, no sympathy.

Next you can expect sleepless nights squinting at obscure web pages, your keyboard stained Cheetos orange, days filled with squalor and Dorito empties as you search for the perfect blade, and periods of blackout as you deal with worthless package tracking systems only to awaken surrounded by pizza bones.

The terminal phases can even include making lame posts in blade forums.

It's a tough hobby...but somebody's gotta do it. Hang in there and know we are thinking of you as you sink.

I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you start skipping mortgage payments or something. Beckers aren't terribly expensive, and if you get one you simply don't like, you can always sell it off quick for close to what you paid for it and try a different one.

Since you have a 7 and a 2 on the way, consider getting a BK16, BK17 or BK5 next... they have slimmer blades and more acute bevels, for more bushcrafty/food prep/hunting types of cutting.

Wait until you start cruising retail knife establishments with a smart phone..... time to get a tablet.

BK-15, BK-16 or BK-17 next or one of each to wet your whistle. Then you get spares. I see a BK-9 in your future.

Tablet? You're so young. Long before cell phones I would go to the mall to stare and molest the Knives. No Internet, just catalogs to save money. Two weeks for delivery!

There were no malls when I was a young. We are somewhat spoiled with computers and the ease of shopping. I just printed out the operator's manual for a new dishwasher. The dishwasher is for my wife. I still seldom use a dishwasher for anything. Just seems like a waste.

I have to admit that my tablet has opened a few doors when I am on the road. I often don't even get my laptop out of the case at motels anymore.

I seem to be fickle. One day it's folders from here on out; day or two later it's fixies forever.
