It seems like a stress crack has developed on the aluminum handle in front of the lock bar,on the right side. it is very thin in that area, almost like too much material was removed from there making that spot weak.i re enfored the area with j b weld 'cause i hate having to send things out for repair.i filled in the thin spot & its much thicker now & it cant be seen,either.it might have developed from waving the knife open.anyone else have a problem with theirs?:confused:
 
Wha?! That's rather unfortunate to hear, as it did seem to be a well put together knife. Will keep watch for updates.
 
Goldie, I'm really sorry to hear that. Other than that I'm fighting very hard not to make further comments.
 
I also hate sending things back for repair. However, sounds like that might be the best route here.

I'm not a fan of a knife that I can't trust.
 
Is it possible that the knife shipped with this defect? It is distressing to hear, but these things happen. Remember Beretta's problem with its cracking frame? Anything over about 20,000 rounds and the shooter could experience catostrophic failure. Just a design flaw, but one that was very inconvenient and dangerous.

You don't expect stress cracks in knife frames made with titanium or polymers, but I think you'll see it in aluminum more than just about anything else. Only time will tell whether your knife was a fluke or not.
 
When i removed the handles, the feeling of the aluminum doesnt seem like it was the hardened aircraft type like benchmade & others use.it seems like its got less heft or solidity.it may very well be a lower grade of aluminum,& it may not be hardened.it definitly did not arrive like this, i would have noticed it for sure.like i stated before, its so thin foward of the lock bar, that waving causes a heavy snap of the lock which may have caused it.its a very thin crack,but it still exist. now that its j b welded,it should be plenty strong now.they just removed too much material for no reason; the lock bar goes nowhere near the end like that. still a cool knife, i still like it a lot......
