Welp, i finally made an account and got some pics loaded on a site. I found this axe head metal detecting in tennessee about 10 years ago but left it at my grandfathers property. Since then ive become interested in the old axe heads over the years, read posts on this site, watch youtube, etc. I recently got this axe head back from paw paw who kept it oiled and looked after. It was rusty, i cleaned it untill it had a nice patina, but still couldnt find any markings so i sanded the patina... but i found some clues it.
The top says "something something &CO" im thinking its an early version of a .CO maybe Rogers or Mann.
Below that is SUPERIOR
And below that is CAST STEEL ive seen a couple other axes with the same font for the SUPERIOR but just am baffeled at the beveling. I know its quite possible that someone could have custom filed the bevels on there but i need someones opinion on this. Hopefully one of you have seen or maybe have one/pic of it so i can quit looking for the brand lol. Its about 3.5- 4 lbs. Number 2 stamp on bottom, and either an "X" on the back or a number 4.

AA&T Co. labeled that bevel style as a "standard bevel" I believe.

It's how I spelled it. And your axe isn't necessarily by them, just that they produced axes with that bevel type. :)
