Shopping my local knife store today and ran across a spyderco model I haven't seen. Roughly the same overall size as the delica, but the handle was not as thick.(thick as in top to bottom not side to side) Appeared to be G-10, but with smaller checkering. Blade shape, size and steel all identical to the delica. The other big difference was the way the clip attached. Used three screws and mounted very high on the knife so very little shows out of your pocket when carried. Price was $50. Can someone identify this knife and tell me if this is a good price. Liked the way it carried deep in the pocket and light weight. Thanks...

The rookie maybe too small to fit into that description. If it does not have a swedge on top of the balde then it is definatley not a rookie. Perhpas the old standard or even a calypso jr in Micarta? The standrad is the g-10 version of the delica I beleive. The calypso in micarta is roughly the same size but has in aus 8 steel instead of ats 55.

Without having a clipside pic of the standard, I still can make a firely good assumtion you are speaking of the c05 Standard.

Intro'ed 1984, but strangly not in my 96 cat...
97 stats(ELU, pg 43):
ATS-55, 2.875", PE or SE, 2.38oz, tip up
98 stats(ELU, pg 48):
ATS-55, 2.875", PE or SE, 2.75oz, tip down

no 99 book

not in 2000 book. discon'ed either 99 or 00.

have to check home site for clip direction, unless they did do a complete overhaul, as well as closing price.

I have a G-10 Rookie and I doubt it's what you saw but I'm not 100% sure. I too think it might be a Standard or a Calypso Jr.. The Calypso Jr. is more likely since the Standard has been discontinued for a while and wouldn't be available in most stores.

ok, main question to be sure, flat grind or hollow grind? I'm 95% sure it's the c05 though.

Guess we still can't post pics yet!

The G-10 Standard, clip attached at the pivot end. Sold for around $45.00, discontinued.

The G-10 Rookie had the clip attached at the butt end of the knife, retailed a little higher I believe around $55.00.

Either one is a good choice, IMO.

You have no email listed. Email me and I'll send you the pics.

Thank for all the info....I ran several searches for the G-10 Rookie and Standard. Only found pics of the Rookie, but think I've found my culprit. That is definitely the handle shape and design. Clip location was tip down if I remember right. Spent som much time trying to compare to the delica, cant' quite remember which was which. Is $50 a fair price for NIB

RTAK, I believe that you're talking about the G10 Standard. I've got a few pics of my PE Standard that I can email to you to verify, if you're interested. ;)

RTAK,

It sounds like a C05 Standard with G-10 handle. If so, it retailed for 114.95 and was discontinued 1998-99. Yes, 50.00 is a good price.

I'm also sure it's the C05 Standard. The blade steel is ATS-55 which was used at the C11 Delica (FRN models only) some time ago. The blade shape is identical. The overall length of the Standard is slightly smaller than the Delica's. Also, the Standard has only tip down / right carry option. It should also have a steel liner on the clip side.
The Rookie, though similar in shape, has a "skinny" look :)

Sounds like a Standard to me. Did it look like this?

It can't be the Rookie because of the ride. The Rookie protrudes above the pocket much more than the Standard.

And the winner is....drum roll please.

The CO5GP Standard PE......I purchased today for $50.

Thanks to everyone who responded to this post and all of you that forwarded the pics. New to the forum, but glad to have this kind of support from fellow bladenuts. Didn't know I would get this kind of response for such a question. Now I am off to search for a G-10 PE Police model for the weekends. Thanks again to all for the help.
