I found this pocket knife in a toolbox that belonged to my step dad. He passed away in 1979. I do remember seeing him use the knife a few times. I don’t know how to post a picture of it here though. Does anyone know age and value of knife. It is 5-1-4” closed. It has 2 blades the main blade is 4” and the thinner blade is 3-7/8”. It does have the dog head shield with KA-BAR embossed on the shield. I do not see KA-BAR embossed on any blade however. The smaller of the blades says “UNION CUT CO” then under that “OLEAN, NY”.
It does have a bail on end of the knife.

Sorry wasn’t aware of the rule. But I would like to know how to post the picture and the age of knife!

Member G gunsil knows a lot about the Dogs Head Ka-Bars, perhaps he will see this and chime in (I've alerted him to this thread). He might be able to provide a manufacture date range just by the shield and the blade markings. I know a little, but he knows a lot more than me. If I wanted to know something about a Dog Heads Ka-Bar, I'd ask him.

To post pictures at your membership level you need to use a photo hosting site like Imgur, using the BBCode that the hosting site assigns to the picture.

Sorry, without good photos I cannot tell how old your knife is or much about it. KA-BAR had some dog head knives made for their collectors club by Queen in 1977 and 1978. Otherwise most of the dog head shield knives ceased being made during WW2. I have never seen one with a factory bail on it.
