I just wanted to share this here also because despite the broken blade (I guess broken blades don't bother me:) It is by far my oldest US maker found at the bottom of an antique dealer's junk box of tools. He just wanted $20 for anything I asked about. This was a no brainer though. I love all the original stuff that's still there despite the broken bits. Buffalo horn scales... It's small too... about 3". Hope you like

One of the top 10 patterns I still want. I love the shape, the look, it's a pattern that belongs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the City, it's probably there already.

Great score, I'm the same way, just because a blade broke doesn't mean it shouldn't be admired, down off and loved. It's patterns like that and the Timberscribe that people don't even know about.

Good on you for rescuing and thanks for sharing.

Here's some shots of a hundred year old knife (Union Knifeworks NYC 1911-1913) I picked up at a yard sale or flea market for a couple of $. I just reground it, I carry this knife quite frequently.

Nice old knife. I could think of a lot worse things to drop $20 on. That is one that you will not see everyday even on the net.

If I had fished that out I'd restore it best I could and (if still strong enough) be using it! I've been looking for a stout pocketknife with a REAL hoof pick for a long time (the Case model everyone touts sports what can only be called a gut hook, not a hoof pick). Awesome!

OK, now that I see how old it is, probably not. But still . . . maybe a good candidate for a professional to duplicate.

Yeah, there's a line where I don't mess with certain knives. This one is old, a scarce maker & a scarce pattern. I do however carry it, as I do favorites, in case I use it in conversation or just want to look at something while my wife is in the grocery store. It does ride in a pouch though.
