Unique Graphic User?

I am trying to decide between a plain small 21 sebenza and a small unique graphic 21 sebenza with a reverse silver contrast design. Regardless of which I get, it will be a user. I am leaning towards the unique graphic version but am wondering how durable the finish is and how easy it scratches. I do not want to pay extra for the design and then have it ruined with a bunch of use marks.

Heres a fact: If you use a knife it will get scratched. Just because it has a pretty picture doesnt make it indestructible. If you drop a knife on cement it will scratch. This is true for striders, bm, spyderco, CRK...ANY knife.

I hate to sound like an arse, but if you don't want a knife scratched, leave it at home and bring the knife you dont mind getting scratched. Scratches add character. Just enjoy your knife, respect it and let it age with you. It will have much more value to you in time than any perfect knife left in a safe at home. A knife you use is your companion and it goes through life with you. If you don't use it, it is just a shiny nice looking piece of metal. Just my opinion of course. Your mileage may vary:)

So, my advice, if your worried about scratches you have two options:
1) get over it
2) move on too cheaper knives you don't care about getting scratched.

get the plain and let time scratch a design for you! the look of use gives the knife character and sentimental value that is priceless...

Sorry to say, not quite a Fact. My Spyderco Urban, BM Mini-Grip and Strider SnG DGG are all used a lot, and show almost no wear. Mainly due to the type of materials used and how they are finished.

I probably did not phrase my question too well. I am going to get a small 21 and do not mind scratches and marks. I am just wonder if the finished titanium on the unique designs scratch easier, harder or the same as the plain version. If the unique designs scratches easily, than I am not going to pay the extra money for it.

Thanks.

The finish might be different, but the blade and handle material is the same either way. So they will scratch with similar ease, or difficulty if you prefer that term. One finish may show the scratches more obviously due to contrast, but if you really "do not mind scratches and marks", then who cares? Unless of course you do care about them, or more specifically, their location. In that case, avoid the unique graphic because no matter how subtle a scratch will be, you will notice it and not be happy. By getting it, IMO, you are setting yourself up for a guaranteed disappointment.

I've been carrying my large regular UG since 1996. The satin finished flats show scratches far less than sandblasted, and depending upon the UG design, the anodized surfaces wear exceeding well. smaller, deeper anodized surfaces show less wear. After 6 mo. of EDC of my UG, only the sandblasted surfaces showed any wear at all. Here's the knife after about 10 years of EDC. There are a bunch of very small scratches in the satin finish, and the back sandblasted surfaces are nicely "distressed".

I EDC a small vines sebenza sometimes and it has some light scuffs and its of the reverse contrast look. To me, the scratches and scuffs dont show up like they do on a plain one. If you want a unique graphic design and plan to use it, just use it and enjoy it. Every scuff you add to the knife is an experience you have had with it. I had my large regular sebenza custom engraved by CRK and its plain and has som scratches on it, but thats what I got it for and just live with it. It was never meant to be a safe queen anyways. Just pick out what you want, either plain or unique graphic and Use It. Both will scratch, just in my opinion, they are easier to see on a plain than on one with the shinney side. Just dont put it in the same pocket with your keys !!! Everything else is just normal wear and tear.

Then you are very nice on your knives and will be fine. My users all look used and are made of the same materials as all the knives you mentioned. I dont consider myself hard on knives as I dont abuse them but they fall out of my pockets etc quite a bit with my line of work.
