You guys(and gals) have something pretty unique going on here and I know you already know it. The RAT Pack seems to form an 'identity' for the whole group that a lot of people outside of ESEE Cutlery don't understand. When speaking to forumites on different manufacturer's forum's, they see no need for an organized community or group. There's nothing wrong with that of course, it just makes the 'Pack' all that more intriguing. I admire those involved with ESEE Cutlery who maintain their strong connections with the others. Again, IMO it just makes the new ESEE Cutlery that much more appealing because of such a loyal following, and that much stronger.;)

Ok, well the 'Cutlery' part should be dropped, but you get my point!

Busse has the hogs and the Becker folks are talking about forming a becker group, but yeah - it's a good crowd here.

The really nice thing about the RAT Pack (which will be renamed eventually) is that it's open to all. Plus, everyone on this subforum has always been very helpful. Great atmosphere. :)

I noticed that makers that have (semi) organized groups: Busse Hogs, ESEE Rats, Himalayan Imports Sharks, etc do tend to have a more closely knit core community.

Also, excluding individual makers, those brands also tend to have the owners of the company maintain a strong presence on the forums, and respond very well and very quickly to their customers.

IMO that's the top priority of anyone running a small business these days, is to be available to your customer base, and be responsive. That's why so many of the big business dinosaurs are dying off, and the Hogs, Rats and Sharks just keep moving on. ;)

well ... i think it also fits into the whole "we arnt just a knife company" kinda appeal too....
there not just selling knives , the no bs line attracts like minded people .

I'm not helpful. I never lift a finger for anyone else. All I do is take.

I am Lobo. I hunt alone. I need no one.

:D

After conversation on the Becker forum, the idea of a 'group' was not too well received. They (quite a few of them) did'nt see any FAB (features, advantages, or benefits) to having one. But, that's up to them. It will be their gain or their loss.

their forum isn't nearly as active as ours unfortunately. The RAT community is one of the best I have seen, the knowledge base of gear, theory and practical application is second to none.
