No, I don't need one of these but..... curious about the quality; does anyone have any experience/knowledge about the United Cuterly 1830's Bowie?

The $150 must be MSRP, as I found one for $83.00. Even if you are planning not to use it, if for some reason you end up using it, the blade steel is 420J, which is not a very good knife steel. It's great for liners, but not so good for blades. Look at some of the Bokers and Boker Plus knives. Boker has a lot of the Boker Plus fixed blades built in China, as is the United Cutlery, but I know for a fact that the Bokers are built solid with outstanding fit and finish. The Bokers also use 440C blade steel, a much better steel than the 420J.

These are made in China

These are made in Germany and more expensive

This one is made in China, but if placed in front of you it would be all but impossible to identify as "Made in China!" Btw, I have this one.

Thanks for input so far; to clarify- I saw the Bowie for sale and was just wondering about it's quality; I really have no plans to buy one; have a Bark River Bowie which I KNOW is a quality one; it is a bit curious since Russell is selling the United one.
