Has anyone tested one of these knives ? I have one and cut a small bush down and the edge held up the brass back flew off. I was wondering how far the tang goes in the handle because the handle stayed tight this time.

I know these knives where made just to look at but I'm going to put mine threw it's paces.
 
The steel I believe is 440A so I wouldn't expect much from edge retention but it is knife steel and better than the 420J a lot of lower cost display knives are made of. I don't know if the brass flying off indicates the knife has inferior construction but check the handle with a magnet and use cautiously. Definitely avoid chopping if you can't determine if there is a tang or hear rattling or loose pieces. A blade that large carries serious potential hazards. Please share your findings.
